Open Question: What are some of Ferdinand and Isabella’s capabilities of running Spain?
By 1400, four principal Christian kingdoms–Portugal, Casrile, Navarre, and Aragon–had emerged on the Iberian Peninsula. Granada also shared the peninsula.During the 15th century (around 1469), Isabella of Castile married Ferinand of Aragon, a real step toward unification of the peninsula in 1469. The two kingdoms remained separate, but their rulers joined forces in a war against the Moors in 1492, capturing Granada. In the 1500s, Ferdinand and Isabella united Castile and Aragon to form a new nation of Spain and added the kingdom of Navarre to its territories.

Ferdinand and Isabella made Spain a strong monarchy, taking powers away from the chuch courts and the nobles. The Moors had been in the southern part of Spain since the 700s and the Jews had been there since the time of the Roman Empire.

In 1492, Isabella and Ferdinand ordered all the Jews within their two kingdoms to become Christians or leave Spain, and several years later, they required the Moors to do the same. Most people in both groups chose to left. The policy acted to weaken Spain because both the Moors and the Jews had been valuable leaders in industrial and commericial activity.

My questions:

How could have Isabella and Ferdinand prevent weakening Spain and instead strengthening the kingdoms?

What were Ferdinand and Isabella’s capabilities to improve Spain?

What should have they done instead of pushing the Moors and the Jews away?

Would you do the same and why? If not, what you would do instead?

How could have Ferdinand and Isabella benefit from the Moors and the Jews stay even more?

**Sorry for the long questions, you only have to answer three, but it’d be great if you answered them all. Promise to be a fan and 5 stars for the best answers!!! Please no smart-alec answers, I would like opinionated, thought-out answers.
