Take Day Trips to See a Volcano from Granada or Managua

Other day trips from Granada include Masaya volcano and market tours and trips.  Masaya volcano is very much alive and visitors can pull their automobiles right up to the edge and experience creation in its rawest form.  In the town of the same name located to the East, there is a large market that has dancing and live music on Thursdays.  This weekly festival is located within the Masaya’s bazaar where all sorts of  traditional crafts can be purchased.  The isletas or “islands” located outside of Granada on Lake Nicaragua make for a great half day or full day trip.  Mombacho volcano, which can be seen from almost every vantage point in Granada, has several tourists’ attractions including an exhilarating zip-line canopy tour.


Visit Ometepe Island - An Active Volcano in Lake Nicaragua

From Granada many visit Ometepe Island, which was created by Volcano Concepcion.  This volcano is typical stratovolcano much like Mt. Fuji outside of Tokyo.  There are many hotels, hostels, tour operators and activities to do on the island that sits in the middle of the Lake Nicaragua. This island has many things to see and do.
